PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai 2021: Approach, Breakthrough, Connection

PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai is delighted that model and culture influencer Cici Xiang is the official ambassador for the fair.

This short film looks at how the keywords Approach, Breakthrough and Connection are each connected to the photographic medium today. Cici will also be hosting an interview with 2021 Insights curator He Yining at PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai this November 3-6, 2021.

After Cici Xiang Yejing graduated from UCL with a degree in Art History in 2018, she founded the art project “C for ABC”, and gradually established cooperation with various museums and galleries. Since then, she has been active in the fashion, culture and art world.

SIGMA FOUNDATION, founded by SIGMA Global CEO Kazuto Yamagami, presents its inaugural project at this year’s fair: Sølve Sundsbø’s AI‑generated fictional flower atlas HANATABA; Julia Hetta’s SONGEN, created during a residency in Aizu, Japan, where she uses natural light to capture a narrative of returning home; and young artist Théo Delors, participating in Bernard Faucon’s project The Most Beautiful Day of My Youth, who responds to the theme “the most beautiful day of one’s life” using mobile phones and social media as his material. Through a spatial exhibition design, the booth transforms photobooks into a “readable” viewing experience.
