REVIEW FROM EXHIBITORS AND MEDIA
We have taken part in PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai every year since it was first launched and have always had great confidence in the fair. Over the past few years, PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai has played a major role in nurturing and developing local interest in collecting photography.
Timeless Gallery (Beijing)
PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai is a lively fair in a beautiful building in one of the world’s most dynamic cities. It is a place to immerse yourself in the cross-cultural dialogues surrounding creative photography, to discover some of the best Asian image-makers, and to make new colleagues and friends.
Martin Barnes, Senior Curator of Photography, Victoria & Albert Museum
We have taken part in PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai every year since it was established and this year was no exception. We were happy to see many collectors visiting the fair and sales have been stronger than previous years.
Three Shadows +3 Gallery (Beijing & Xiamen)
The atmosphere at PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai this year has been particularly good with many young collectors visiting and showing not only their enthusiasm and appreciation but also a real understanding of the works on display.
AIKE (Shanghai)
As more and more young people are getting involved in art collecting, the overall collecting community in the field of photographic art is getting younger, and collectors are more receptive to different forms of work. While in the past collectors used to prefer classical works, people are now more open-minded to avant-garde artworks, especially those with thoughtful and forward-looking meanings.
Matthew Liu Fine Arts (Shanghai)
This is our first time here at PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai and it’s been a really rewarding experience. We’ve met some great new collectors, young collectors, old collectors and we also met curators who were very interested in our program.
bitforms gallery (New York)
A lot of important artists from the contemporary art world can be seen at PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai. The Fair’s sectors can present experimental artworks using different media, but ultimately, all the works presented return to the essence of photography.
